Il est utilis\u00e9 pour ajouter une l\u00e9g\u00e8re r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 la corrosion, pour am\u00e9liorer l\u2019apparence et pour minimiser la r\u00e9flexion de la lumi\u00e8re. Pour atteindre une r\u00e9sistance maximale \u00e0 la corrosion, l\u2019oxyde noir doit \u00eatre impr\u00e9gn\u00e9 d\u2019huile ou de cire.
